It’s been a month since Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin announced he would be taking time off from the Sydney Swans to deal with some mental health issues. Today, he has stepped out for the first time with his fiance, Jesinta Campbell, who hasn’t left his side.

While Buddy has been keeping a low profile, Campbell has fiercely defended her AFL player partner to press, asking everyone to ignore rumours of substance abuse and infidelity and instead focus on supporting those with mental health issues.

She has also updated the public on his progress, insisting he is ‘doing great’ and pledging her support of him, stating a few weeks ago, ‘I’m even more in love now.’

The consensus since, barring a controversial opinion piece last week, has been that the couple are a beacon of inspiration for getting through tough times, particularly in the public eye.
