“Let second grade begin!”

The froth surrounding the second season of Big Little Lies is almost inescapable… which is weird.

Why?

I mean, didn’t the first season finish with a tidy resolution already? Aren’t we satisfied? Did it not end on a high note?

How about let’s not question it. It kicks off on June 10 and, like I said, there is froth. And it’s real.

Early reviews are looking pretty good…. but this ain’t a review.

Who’s new?

MERYL STREEP

Yep, see why we’re frothing? Streep plays the mother of Perry White, Mary Louise Wright. She’s been described as a drab, passive-aggressive and terrifying mother in search of answers.

Not gonna lie, I’m already invested.

Bonnie’s mother also heads to town along with her husband… and there’s a bunch of mother/daughter tension that’ll be explored.

Corey Brockfield is Jane’s adorbs co-worker at the aquarium.

Michael Perkins, a teacher who has a climate change curriculum that stirs things up.

But is it gonna be good?

Despite being described as a ‘slow burn’, the early reviews are positive. The show is still being driven by the dirty politics of Monterey’s social life. Thank the LAWD.

Still a highlight are Celeste’s therapy sessions, which will continue, and the show wastes no time in jumping into some juicy storylines involving Madeline and Jane.

Add Mary Louise’s arrival and Bonnie’s expanded storyline… and it’s still a compellingly good watch.
