Elton John’s longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin is taking another of his talents to New York. Taupin will present the first one-man show of his artwork, Blueprint: A Retrospective, at Mark Borghi Fine Art in Bridgehampton, New York (Long Island) from July 12th to the 26th.
The collection includes 16 works. Bernie says, “I find blocks and oblongs of bright color effective, for me they express affection. In the same way their dark counterparts with their fragmented edges and torn middles spell disturbance and pain. In another way, I find urban chaos and atmospheric cities inspirational. The teaming vibrancy of legendary streets and exotic foreign parts makes for a great palate.”
Art Southampton will also feature a dozen of Taupin’s newest works entitled: Plain Brown Wrapper, between July 10th and 13th.
Since he began this second phase of his career, Taupin’s work has been shown in New York, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles. It can also be found in private collections in Europe and throughout the U.S.
