An Aussie school teacher has been suspended after allegedly sending snapchat messages to a 15-Year-Old girl.
The 34 year old teacher from Toowoomba State High School in Queensland has been suspended after the alleged indecent treatment of a child.
A spokesperson from the Department of Education and Training confirmed the suspension, saying ‘The Department has immediately suspended a Toowoomba State High School staff member who is being investigated for potentially serious offences’.
Since 2009, the Queensland College of Teachers have attributed to 13 suspensions of teachers due to social media reasons.
The Department has a code of conduct for teachers, stating ‘unless in exceptional circumstances, electronic communication with students, particularly those under 18 years of age, is unacceptable.’
Snapchat is a very popular social media app allowing photos to be shared for free and sent to a list of recipients, privately.
