Bon Scott may be gone but he’s hardly been forgotten. Fans of the late AC/DC vocalist have raised money to have a statue of him erected in his Scottish hometown of Kirriemuir.
According to Billboard the local youth music community called DD8 Music has raised roughly 75 thousand dollars to put up the statue, surpassing the goal they set in their Crowdfunder U.K. campaign.
Any leftover money will go towards a memorial garden. The statue itself will depict Scott carrying a set of bagpipes, it’s expected to be in place before DD8 Music’s Bonfest 2016 event next April.
Scott died in February of 1980 after a night of hard drinking and was replaced by fellow Scotsman Brian Johnson. AC/DC’s first studio album after Scott’s death, Back in Black, was their most popular to date and would make them worldwide stars.
