In what feels like out of nowhere, Netflix has dropped a trailer for a Naomi Osaka docu-series that we had no idea was even happening.
The docu-series aims to lift the curtain so we can see what happens behind the scenes when you’re one of the biggest tennis stars in the world and only 23 years old.
Set to be three parts, it looks like a particularly poignant look at how Osaka views the world and her place in it.
Looking at her family and her upbringing as well as how she’s expected to balance the life of a 23-year-old female celebrity, with the 23-year-old athlete side of herself.
“I think the amount of attention that I get is kind of ridiculous,” she says in the trailer, “Nobody prepares you for that.”
“For so long, I’ve tied winning to my worth as a person… Anyone that would know me, they know me for being a tennis player. So what am I if I’m not a good tennis player?”
You can watch the trailer below, titled ‘Naomi Osaka’ the docu-series is set to air on the streaming platform on the 16th of July.
