At 19-years-old Jade Pateman gave birth to a baby boy named Oscar. That was two years ago but things have changed dramatically since then.
Jade was diagnosed with cervical cancer at 21 and given a maximum of two years to live.
The catch being, she was considered “too young” under the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) to undergo a pap smear which could have caught the life threatening disease much, much earlier.
While the cancer began growing in 2014, it wasn’t until February that she began noticing symptoms – allowing the cancer to spread substantially.
Her initial diagnosis saw her develop an inflamed cervix and was given antibiotics to reduce the swelling.
