Amanda Has Been Inducted Into The Radio Hall Of Fame
The yearly Australian Commercial Radio Awards were held over the weekend in Melbourne where the industry celebrates the best and brightest in radio.
Every year someone is given the prestigious honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame, and this year we are so pleased to share the news that Amanda has quite deservedly taken her place among the legends of broadcasting.
Amanda was inducted by her former co-host Andrew Denton and received one of the loudest cheers of the night when she appeared onstage to graciously receive her award.
Amanda said during her acceptance speech, “It’s so easy to forget what being on the radio means,”
“We do it as a job but it’s easy to forget what impact it has. Life can be hard for people, it can be boring, it can be challenging, it can be joyous. We’re there for all of it and I think that’s a big deal and it’s a privilege to do it.”
“You can go through more creative ideas in a month of radio than you do in a year of television.
“I think everyone in this room knows why we love radio; there is no other way we can have this immediate connection with an audience, you can be yourself, you can be human and you can be intimate and you can be real. And you can have your audience feel you and talk to you too.”
Jonesy & Amanda were back at work to discuss her award and her backhanded complement to Jonesy!
Amanda also made history by becoming the first on-air female to make it to the Hall of Fame, which highlights what an incredible trailblazer she has been and continues to be.
We are all so proud of Amanda's much deserved recognition, and to top off a great night she also won an ACRA award with Baby Animals star Suze DeMarchi for best Music Special for Mothers Who Rock, what a night!
