Brendan 'Jonesy' Jones is a born and bred Shire boy. Went to a few schools, including a poncy boarding one.
After that there was art school for a couple of years, where he learnt to paint fat old people in the nude. Art wasn’t to be, so a rich trail of jobs followed: sign-maker, outboard motor wrecker, truck driver, sewer worker, panel beater, kitchen hand, club DJ.
Brendan's big radio break came in 1990 with a night job at 6KA Karratha. His radio journey took him around the country, and eventually to Brisvegas, where he worked late nights on B105 Brisbane, afternoons with 4MMM Brisbane. Then it was onto the bright onto 2MMM Sydney afternoons and then mornings. Brendan also hosted a successful national countdown show, Planet Rock.
Brendan is now proudly one half of the WSFM Breakfast show - Jonesy and Amanda, where he gets up before the crack of dawn to keep Sydney company on their way to work (and to wind up co host Amanda Keller every chance he gets!)
Jonesy and Amanda are also hosts of weekly syndicated radio show “My Generation”
Brendan has received three Australian Commercial Radio Awards and been nominated for six in total, including three for Best On-Air Radio Team.
Apart from hearing his dulcet tones on the wireless, you can also catch his mug on the TV. From a regular spot on Mornings with Kerri-Anne, giving his two cent’s worth on 20 to 1, Jonesy’s also dabbled in the dramatic arts on SBS cult comedy, Swift and Shift.
Brendan is a motorbike fanatic (don't get him started on his bike shed) and writes a monthly column for Live to Ride magazine.
Amanda’s television career began as a producer's assistant on Simon Townsend's Wonder World. Within a week she was the program's head researcher and she hasn't looked back.
In 1985 Amanda became a regular on-air reporter on Ray Martin's Midday Show but it was Beyond 2000 that made her a household name. During her six years on the program she reported from all over the world and has received a number of journalism awards, including a United Nations Media Peace Award (1989) and the Michael Daley Award for Science Journalism (1989).
In 1994 Amanda’s career took on a whole new dimension when her mischievous sense of humour and quick wit were revealed on Channel Seven’s The Denton Show. This partnership with Andrew Denton continued on radio…they shared a 5 year stint as one of the country’s leading breakfast radio duos on Triple M.
Amanda went on to host ABC TV’s Mondo Thingo, but was lured back to radio, where she continues to enjoy success with co-host Brendan Jones on the Jonesy and Amanda Breakfast show on 101.7 WSFM, as well as weekly national radio show “My Generation”
Amanda has played a starring role in SBS’s comedy Swift and Shift Couriers, is a regular on Spicks and Specks, Good News Week, and is captain of the Baby Boomers on Channel 10’s “Talking ‘bout Your Generation”, where she always keeps a hanky tucked up the sleeve of her spencer.
