What You Need To Know About The Smoke In The Air Today
If you woke up to the smell of smoke in the air this morning, you certainly weren’t alone.
The air quality in parts of Sydney this morning was rated as “very poor” as the smoke from a number of hazard reduction burns blanketed the city, ahead of expected rain this weekend.
The NSW Rural Fire Service said it was taking advantage of favourable weather conditions to carry out a number of hazard-reduction burns around Sydney on Friday, including a 183-hectare burn at Cottage Point in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
According to a report on SH, people in that area with heart or lung disease, older adults and children are advised to avoid exercising outdoors while the air quality remained at that level.
