Western Sydney's Attitude Towards Marriage Equality Revealed

It seems there’s a big difference in the attitudes towards marriage equality between Sydney’s Eastern and Western suburbs.

The city returned the highest yes vote in all of Australia.

In the West, however, a mere 2 out of 12 seats returned a majority yes vote.

The biggest push back was in Auburn – Yagoona and Bankstown.

Penrith and the Blue Mountains were the only seats in the west to vote yes.

Experts are putting it down to a high immigrant population - where Muslims and Catholics make up a lot of the votes.
