Hay Truck Takes Out Finish Line Of Tour Down Under Race
A hay truck has taken out the finish line of Tour Down Under cycling race in the Adelaide Hills.
The truck, loaded with hay, was too tall to fit under the inflatable finish line, dragging it away.
ABC reporter Sarah Hancock and cameraman Haidarr Jones found themselves in pole-position of the unexpected action during a cross.
Hancock was talking to the camera when a group of cyclists zoomed past.
The hay truck can then be seen passing Hancock, who covers her ears.
The truck then completely collects the inflatable finish line, dragging it down the road.
The ABC reported that police said they had not been required to deal with the chaos.
They also said that during TDU racing there was always a rolling schedule of road closures to allow the race competitors to pass through safely.
