Two Pokemon GO Players Have Been Mugged At Gunpoint In NSW

Two Pokemon Go players have been mugged at gunpoint while playing the game in a NSW park at night.

The couple, both aged 29, drove to a skate park at Tahmoor at 7pm on Wednesday where they found their way blocked by a white ute after entering the car park.

It's alleged two men wearing balaclavas then sprung out and threatened the pair with a rifle before fleeing empty-handed.

Police say there's no suggestion the thugs used the game to lure people to the area.

Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery of two people at a skate park in Tahmoor after they went to the park while using a phone app on Wednesday night.

About 7pm (Wednesday 13 July 2016), a man and woman, both aged 29, drove to the skate park on Thirlmere Way, while using a phone app.

After the pair entered the car park, police have been told a white Toyota Hilux reversed across the driveway, blocking their car. Two men with their faces covered, one armed with a rifle, exited the Hilux. The man with the rifle threatened the pair before both men fled in the Hilux empty-handed.

There is nothing to suggest that the men used the game app to lure the people to the location or that the men were known to the pair.

The man and woman drove to the town centre where police were notified. Officers from Camden Local Area Command conducted a patrol of the area; however, neither the men nor the Hilux were found. A crime scene was established and investigated by specialist officers. The incident comes as a reminder for people to be aware of their surroundings, especially when travelling to unfamiliar locations.

Investigations are continuing and police are hoping to speak with two men who might be able to assist with inquiries. One man is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 190cm tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark blue jacket and dark pants. The other man is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 180cm tall, with a solid build, and fair complexion.

He was wearing a dark blue jacket with a high-visibility shirt underneath, dark pants, and work boots. Police are urging anyone who knows the whereabouts of the men, not to approach them and contact Triple Zero (‘000’) immediately.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
