Aussie Bloke's 'Priceless' Monaro Stolen In Daytime Robbery
A Perth man's prized 1971 Holden Monaro coupe has been stolen in a brazen daytime robbery.
On March 15, the two-door red HQ GTS coupe was taken after theives drove a tow truck onto the man's Luton Close property about 12.30pm.
About $10,000 worth of tools was also lifted.
The man had been in the process of restoring the classic car, which was not yet insured as it was in pieces in the garage.
Its doors had also been removed for repainting.
His girlfriend told PerthNow that her partner had been in the process of restoring the "irreplaceable" car and that it had only been at the house for about five days.
“He’s been working on it for so long and has so much passion for it, for someone to take it away is horrible.”
“It wasn’t insured because it was in pieces and in a locked garage.”
They believe the thieves saw the car when they were moving it from a friend's house, where it had been garaged for about a year.
Neighbours who saw the truck, which had apparently spent about half an hour at the property, didn't realise that a robbery was going on.
They reportedly got to the car by drilling out the garage door lock.
The truck, which had a white cab and a black tray, was captured on CCTV transporting the Monaro which was covered in sheets.
