Sydney Traffic Will Be Horrible This Weekend So Be Prepared
People heading to the races or the AFL Sydney derby at Moore Park on Saturday are being advised to catch public transport.
On Saturday Day One of The Championships is at Royal Randwick Racecourse, with the first race kicking off at 11:30am.
Race tickets include travel to and from the racecourse on trains, special event shuttle buses, regular buses, Sydney Ferries and light rail.
Trackwork on the City Circle may impact travel to the races, with buses replacing trains between Central and Wynyard via Museum.
Delays are expected on roads in the area including Anzac Parade, Dacey Avenue, Darley Road, Alison Road and High Street.
Special event clearways will be in place on parts of Darley Road, Ascot Street and High Street until 7pm.
The AFL derby between the Sydney Swans and the GWS Giants will happen at Allianz Stadium at 7:25pm.
Shuttle buses will run to Moore Park from Eddy Avenue at Central Station from 4pm until 7:20pm and from Elizabeth Street at Martin Place from 4pm until 7:15pm.
Return services will run back to Central and Martin Place from 9:20pm until 11:15pm. Trackwork on the City Circle means buses will replace trains between Central and Wynyard via Museum.
Heavy traffic is expected in the area, particularly before the match with the Randwick Races finishing nearby.
