Sydney Toddler Accidentally Killed By Heartbroken Mother
A little girl has tragically died after being hit by a reversing vehicle at a caravan park south of Sydney.
The 18-month-old, according to The Daily Telegraph, was standing toward the back of the van when the incident occurred yesterday afternoon; heartbreakingly, it's believed the toddler's mother was driving at the time.
Paramedics were immediately called to the Big 4 East's Beach caravan park in Kiama, where the child was treated just after 3.30 pm for abdominal and chest injuries.
Sadly, despite being airlifted to Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick, the little one didn't make it.
7News reported that the child's mother was "hysterical" that she hadn't seen the toddler when reversing the family's people mover; one witness described hearing the woman, in her 30s, scream.
"She was hysterical, I put her and her daughter in the car and we drove to the caravan entrance to wait for the ambulance," she said.
"At Christmas time there's up to 23 kids running around in that section, you can never be careful enough."
Police are investigating the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
