Susie O'Neill Accuses Don Burke Of 'Crude Sexual Innuendo'

Former Olympic swimmer Susie O’Neill has broken her silence and claims Don Burke subjected her to “crude and belittling” comments.

Fairfax Media reports O’Neill was by herself in her Brisbane home when Burke interviewed her ahead of the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

O'Neill said she wasn’t initially concerned knowing the television presenters friendly demeanor on Burke’s Backyard.

However, as the eight-time Olympic medallist stood near a flower painting created by her husband, Burke allegedly said: “Is your c--- as big as that?”

The swimmer was totally “flabbergasted” by Burke’s “crude and belittling” comments, and then mentioned the encounter to her then manager, Nick Cummins.

Mr Cummins told Fairfax that Buke “convincingly” denied his comments at the time.

But Mr Cummins now says the explosive claims about Burke highlight that it's not just “disgruntled employees” with an “axe to grind.”

Burke, 70, was interviewed by Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair where he claimed “Australia can make up their own mind”

"I am happy to say to the people of Australia: this is my story, make up your mind if I'm the most evil person that's ever lived, that's your decision,"

"If you can forgive me for the stupidity and the other things I have done then I am very grateful, but I think that's their decision not mine."

"I have looked in the mirror and there's a lot I don't like. But that's up to the people of Australia to decide can they forgive me or not."

Burke claims "the Twittersphere" have stirred up the allegations in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal and that he is simply the victim of a "witch hunt".
