BREAKING: Salim Mehajer Found Guilty Of Assault
A Sydney magistrate has found former Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer guilty of assaulting a female television reporter who was attempting to interview him.
Mehajer had denied assaulting reporter Laura Banks in April 2017 when he slammed a car door on her arm as he left a Sydney CBD police station following his arrest over a separate alleged assault.
At Downing Centre Local Court on Friday, magistrate Joanne Keogh found the 31-year-old guilty, saying he was reckless to the risk of harm when he closed the door.

Seven Network journalist Banks originally tried to question Mehajer last year after he had just spent the night in police custody after being charged with stealing a taxi driver’s EFTPOS machine and then throwing it at his head in a altercation at The Star casino.
