Popular Kmart Toaster Recalled Over Fears Of Electric Shock
A Popular stainless steel toaster from Kmart is being recalled over fears that it could cause electric shocks.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission website has issued an urgent recall on the Home & Co TL-136 2 Slice Stainless Steel Toaster due to the potential risk.
It is believed that the electric shock may be generated by a fault in the heating element that causes it to stay on even once the toast has popped up.
"Some of the toasters have a faulty switch, causing the heating element to remain 'live' when the lever is up and the toaster appears to be turned off," stated the recall notice.
"There is a risk of electric shock if the user makes contact with the heating element."
Anyone who may have purchased this brand of toaster is being urged to stop using it immediately and to return it to a Kmart store for a full refund.
