Dog Owners Searched After Disgusting Act Of Cruelty

The RSPCA is investigating an act of horrific animal cruelty after a dog was stuffed into a suitcase and dumped in a garbage bin room at an apartment tower in Melbourne’s CBD.

Residents at the Upper West Side building on Lonsdale Street were recently told the body of a husky dog had been found dumped in the bin room.

The one-year-old dog was believed to have been nocked over the head and then stuffed into a silver suitcase, where it suffocated and died.

The company in charge of the building sent an out an email last week, asking residents to help find the dogs owners.

The email said the suitcase was found in the bin chute room on level 12 and that there was blood found in the level 14 and 15 fire stairs, which may have been related to the attack.

RSPCA Victoria prosecution co-ordinator Daniel Bode said it was investigating the matter, interviewing witnesses and co-ordinating an autopsy.

Charges are expected to be laid shortly.
