More Bad News If You Want To Catch A Train This Afternoon
As if the long delays that Sydney commuters faced this morning wasn't bad enough comes the news that we should brace ourselves for more of the same this afternoon.
Transport for NSW have put the the slew of delays that frustrated thousands of patrons both yesterday and today down to an unusually high number of sick staff members over the past few days.
Commuters claim they have been forced to wait for 50 minutes at an inner city station when there is usually a train every 10 minutes.
And if that wasn't bad enough, there are now fears that there could be more delays this afternoon which may affect peak hour, making commuters who are returning to work this week suffer even further.
Transport for NSW has blamed “staff availability” along with signalling issues as the cause of the massive delays.
These latest dramas come after the controversial timetable change made in November.
Seven of the eight Sydney rail lines are currently suffering from “ongoing delays”.
One line has had its rail service reduced to just one train every half-hour so drivers are can be sent to work on busier routes.
