Man Opens Fire In Bunnings In Sydney's West

Police are on the hunt for a man who burst into a Bunnings in Sydney's west overnight and opened fire in a terrifying hold-up attempt.

According to employees who were beginning to close up for the night, the would-be thief entered the Hoxton Park Road store in Prestons just before 9pm on Wednesday and began threatening them with a gun.

The man reportedly then fired a number of shots before fleeing, empty handed, in a silver Mitsubishi Lancer.

Thankfully no-one was injured.

Investigators are now appealing for a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries to come forward; he's described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 170cm tall and wearing dark jeans and a long-sleeved white shirt.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
