Man Assaulted In Carpark Near Southwest Sydney Train Station

A man has been hospitalised after brutal attack in a carpark in Sydney's southwest yesterday evening.

The 36-year-old had cut through the parking lot on Erica Lane near the train station in Minto on his way home at about 7.20pm on Monday when a second man approached him and asked him for a cigarette.

When the victim reached to offer the cigarette, a group of men appeared and set upon him, seriously assaulting him and stealing his wallet.

The man sustained "swelling and lacerations to his face" and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police have launched a full investigation into the robbery and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The assault comes just days after an armed robbery by a group of teens at Blacktown train station, and a second theft on the railway overpass at Toongabbie yesterday.
