Delays Expected At Airports Australia-Wide Due To Strikes
Anyone heading to a major airport around Australia today are being warned to expect major delays and chaos as airport staff prepare to go on strike.
The employees are stopping work in order to protest proposed shift changes that could see all aviation staff forced to work split shifts. The proposal will be heard at Federal Court today.
The Transport Workers Union has said that split shifts “are causing high injury rates among workers and safety risks at airports.”
The protests are set to occur in Sydney (12pm, international terminal), Melbourne (1pm, Qantas domestic terminal), Brisbane (10am domestic terminal carpark walkway) and Adelaide (10.20am, main entrance to terminal).
