Jamie Oliver “FURIOUS” Aussie Restaurant Chain In HUGE Debt
Jamie Oliver is undoubtedly one of the world’s greatest and most well known chefs.
He’s made HUGE changes in the culinary world, and filtered those changes down to where they’re really needed, like schools and the average family home. His chain of restaurants, Jamie’s Italian, are also INCREDIBLY busy and hard to get into, a testament to his skills.
However, what we didn’t know, is that the businesses are actually really struggling.
According to a report on the Daily Mail, Oliver’s Australia ‘Jamie’s Italian’ branches allegedly owe a HUGE mountain of debt.
Oliver has allegedly blasted executives who have left his six Aussie restaurants in such a hole, and he has been left fuming.
Adding insult to injury is the collapse of Keytone group in June, which runs Oliver’s ‘Jamie’s Italian’ restaurants in this country. The company reportedly owes $34 million in unsecured debt.
Oliver demanded answers from executives from the failed hospitality group and told them to fly to London for what was described as an 'extremely heated sit-down', The Daily Telegraph reported.
'Jamie demanded some answers and made it clear that he was not at all happy with the fact that his name has been dragged down into a mess,' a source close to Oliver said, according to the publication.
'He resents the idea that his restaurants, which he sees as the only profitable businesses that Keystone operated, are being touted as being the subject of a fire sale.'
'He gets final say over who takes over the operation of the business and wanted to make it clear he was extremely unhappy with the way the matter has been handled.'
