It's Going To Be Even HOTTER Today Than Expected Sydney

Sydney, it may still be early in the morning but it's already time to turn on those aircons, get the fans pumping, chuck on some shorts and a singlet (surely your boss will understand today) because the heatwave we have been promised is coming.

And though meteorologists have been forecasting that Thursday would be the hottest day of the week and could even break December temperature records in parts of Sydney, we're now hearing that it could be even HOTTER than expected.

As of 5:30am this morning the Bureau of Meteorology were predicting that temperatures would reach 35C in the city; a slightly cooler temperature than that expected for Sydney's west which will soar over 40C.

However, within the space of half an hour, this prediction was raised with temperatures in Sydney now expected to hit 37C and 42C in places like Penrith.

The Bureau is also predicting that temperatures will hit over 40C in Liverpool, Richmond, Parramatta and Campbelltown.

We can expect the sun to be out this morning but there are chances of a thunderstorm this afternoon and early evening. And if that's the case, you know what that means...humidity. Yippee....

NSW is also under a total fire ban as the fire danger rating is currently at severe.

If you can stay inside today, we definitely recommend it. But if you do have to head outside at all today, remember to put on sunscreen, wear a hat and drink plenty of water.

Stay safe out there Sydneysiders!
