QLD Car Crash Victim Tragically Passes Away Overnight
A woman who was allegedly violently beaten by her former partner while trapped in her crashed car on the Gold Coast has died in hospital.
Tara Brown, 24, suffered critical head injuries in the incident on Tuesday morning.
Following her death in hospital late on Wednesday, her former partner had his attempted murder charge upgraded to murder.
The 24-year-old man will appear at Southport Magistrates Court in October.
A friend of a woman allegedly bashed by her partner on a Gold Coast street says the young mother is fighting for her life.
Tara Brown, 24, is in a critical condition at the Gold Coast University Hospital after the horrific attack in Molendinar on Tuesday.
Sasha Mahuika said Ms Brown is a great mother and a lovely person.
"She's doing as good as she can do," Ms Mahuika said.
"Fighting for her life I guess.
"She's a beautiful girl ... a great mother. Humble, kind, just a real cool girl."
Police say Ms Brown was fleeing from domestic violence when her partner, who is believed to have links with the Bandidos bikies, ran her off the road.
It's alleged he then attacked her with a metal object, believed to be part of a fire extinguisher, leaving her with critical head injuries.
The man, also 24, is expected to be charged on Wednesday in hospital, where he's being treated for self-inflicted stab wounds.
Police are expected to update the media about the investigation on Wednesday afternoon.
