Elderly Woman Critical After Being Struck By Bus

An elderly woman is in a critical condition after being struck by a bus in Sydney’s inner west yesterday evening.

Emergency services were called to a bus stop on New Canterbury Road in Dulwich Hill at about 7:15pm, following reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a bus.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command arrived on the scene and found a 69-year-old woman with serious leg injuries.

It’s believed that the woman was waiting at the bus stop before falling forward and going underneath an oncoming bus.

The woman was treated on the scene before being rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

A crime scene was established at the scene and the bus driver, a 59-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing. He has since been released.

Inquiries continue.
