Cancer Con Artist Belle Gibson's Lavish Five Week Holiday
Disgraced wellness guru Belle Gibson, who faked having terminal cancer is facing questions about her luxurious life style despite not yet paying a huge $400,000 fine.
A Current Affair discovered Gibson returning to Melbourne Airport after a five-week luxury holiday in East Africa that is estimated to have cost around $15,000.
Authorities are currently chasing the former blogger through the Federal Court to pay her fine or face jail time.
Gibson lied that she had cancer and collected hundreds of thousands of dollars from well-meaning Australians when she promised to donate her profits to charity.
Gibson was penalised by the Federal Court for five breaches of Australian Consumer Law, after claiming she had brain cancer but had healed herself using natural remedies.
She also lied to her supporters about donating money from her Whole Pantry app and book sales to various charities, including a boy with inoperable brain cancer.
The Wellness Pantry app was downloaded over 300,000 times at $3.79 a pop.
During an interview with 60 Minutes appearance Gibson claimed that she was the victim.
“I didn’t trade in on my story or in other people’s lives,” she said.
“I’m not trying to get away with anything.”
