Body Found In Reserve In Sydney’s North Shore
Police have confirmed that a body has been discovered near a children's playground in Hunters Hill this morning. A crime scene has now been established.
Emergency services were called to Pittwater Road, Hunters Hill at around 7:30am on Wednesday after a body was found by a council worker in Buffalo Creek Reserve.
Drag marks 30m long were found near the body.
Officers at the Ryde Police Area Command have since established a crime scene and an investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the person's death.
Detective Superintendent David Waddell says NSW Police are yet to determine if the victim - who was clothed - was male or female.
"There's been no identification at this stage - it's very early stages," he told reporters in Sydney.
"(But) we are treating it (the death) as suspicious. At this stage, it's definitely suspicious."
A crime scene has been established at the reserve and officers - who were called to the park about 7.30am - are speaking to locals and seeking CCTV footage.
Det Supt Waddell refused to comment on media reports that drag marks stretching 30 metres were discovered near the body.
Extensive police tape now surrounds the brightly-coloured playground as detectives investigate how the person died.
