Blue Mountains Council Facing A 3 Month Suspension
Blue Mountains City Council is facing suspension for the second TIME in the space of THREE months.
Gabrielle Upton, The NSW Environment Minister, issued a notice of intention to suspend the council for 3 months and appoint a temporary administrator.
It comes after the government discovered there was a "serious conflict of interest" in the council's independent investigation into asbestos management.
Last year the council started the investigation following the discovery of asbestos in several council-owned workplaces, including a pre-school, but it has been revealed that one of the investigators had links to a senior council staff member, Ms Upton said.
