Brisbane Man Hits Would-Be Robber Over Head With Bar Stool
A pub patron has become an unlikely hero when he used a bar stool to hit one of two armed men over the head as they tried to rob an East Brisbane hotel.
Police said the robbers entered the Lord Stanley Hotel at around 11.30pm on Monday night.
One of the men brandished a gun and demanded an employee fill a bag with cash from the till while the other, armed with a machete, ushered three patrons inside from the smoking area and ordered them to lie on the floor.
However a fourth pub patron emerged from the gaming room and use a bar stool to hit the machete-wielding bandit over the head.
His co-offender dropped the bag of cash, and they fled on foot with just a small sum of money.
No staff or patrons were injured, and police are hunting for the armed duo.
