10 Year Old Sydney Boy Critical After Schoolyard Bashing

A 10-year-old boy is in a critical condition after being assaulted at Wattawa Heights Public School in Bankstown on Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the school in southwestern Sydney around midday yesterday following reports of a fight.

Police have been told the boy was involved in a game with a group of other students when he was allegedly assaulted and fell backwards.

The student was then taken to The Children's Hospital at Westmead and is currently listed as being in a critical but stable condition.

It’s understood the boy has a pre-existing medical condition.

As a result, concerned parents have taken to the school's Facebook page, slamming staff over the alleged incident.

One woman wrote: 'What a lovely bunch of staff, allowing a 10-year-old boy to get bashed almost to death while in your care and supervision.'

Officers from the Bankstown area attended the school and established a crime scene.

No arrests have been made as police inquires continue, and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
