The Best Places To Hang Near The Brand New Bankwest Stadium

BROUGHT TO YOU BY:
undefined

THE COUNTDOWN IS ALMOST OVER.

The doors to Parramatta's Bankwest Stadium are about to be thrown open for a blockbuster NRL showdown between the Eels and the Tigers on Sunday April 19.

The breathtaking, state-of-the-art stadium will house more than 30,000 screaming fans and become an instant Sydney icon.

So with massive crowds expected to flood to the new digs, we thought it only fitting to put together the best places to hang before and after the games (all within walking distance of course, cos ain't nobody got time for that).

BEST FOR DINNER: EL-PHOENICIAN

Any self-respecting Parramatta list has to kick things off with a Middle Eastern joint. The area is renowned for its regional food, and El-Phoenician on Church Street has gotta be up there with one of the best around.

Stuff your face with a Lebanese banquet fit for a king - tender, smokey meats, plus all the hummus, labne, tabouli and batata your heart desires.

Combined with the breathtaking decor, it's the perfect way to get just a little bit fancy before you head off to the game.

BEST QUICK EATS: TEMASEK

If you're a bit pressed for time and looking for something cheap and cheerful, look no further than Temasek.

There's nothing better than a hearty laksa or spicy beef rendang to warm you up in footy season, and they don't get much better than the ones served up by the team at Temasek.

They've been turning out some of the best Malaysian food in Sydney for almost thirty years now, so you can be sure they know what they're doing.

You should be able to pay for most meals with a $20 note, and still get to the game on time, so it's a win-win!

BEST BAR: UNCLE KURT'S

Uncle Kurt's is Parramatta's first-ever small bar and took out Time Out's Neighbourhood Bar of the Year in 2018.

It's not hard to see why.

Hidden away beneath the City Centre carpark, you'll feel like you're in Brooklyn with its incredible New York aesthetic and more-ish food and drink list.

With street art on the walls and pumping tunes, it's the perfect place to party the night away after watching your team get up.

BEST CAFE: PAPER PLANE CAFE

If it's an afternoon game you're going to want to find somewhere to kick back with a coffee and spill the tea with your mates about everything that went down the night before.

Paper Plane has you covered.

You'll feel at home at couple Carla Soriano and Ben Mora's joint - a chic farmhouse-style cafe that's a little oasis from the busy Parramatta streets.

Their trademark Picasso Blend is the perfect brew and paired with one of their beautiful, bright brunch options - you'll be in heaven.

Our personal picks? The Cuban Eggs Benedict and Nutella Hot Coco...you're welcome.

So make sure you get out to the game, soak up the awesome vibes at the new Bankwest Stadium, and make a ripper day of it!
