Research shows that we sleep in 90-minute cycles, and so it's not the amount of sleep you get, it's what part of the cycle you wake up in that affects how you feel.

People typically go through 4-7 of these cycles each night, moving from light sleep at he beginning into a very deep sleep near the end.
