Say It Isn't So! Bacon As Likely To Cause Cancer As Smoking
It's happening, everyone. The end of the world is on its way.
Okay, well maybe not. But the World Health Organisation will reportedly announce the tragedy that processed meats (read: bacon), will be included on its list of the five things that cause cancer in humans.
Bacon it will sit alongside alcohol, cigarettes, arsenic and asbestos as one of the top substances to cause cancer in humans.
This could lead to warning labels on packets of bacon, similar to what's already on our cigarette packets.
Fresh red meat is also due to join the ‘encyclopaedia of carcinogens’ and is likely to be ranked as only slightly less dangerous than the preserved products.
The World Cancer Research Fund recommends avoiding processed meat altogether.
