Sleeping With Your Bra On Is Actually SUPER Bad For You

Taking off your bra at the end of a long/ short/ any day, really, has got to be one of life's greatest pleasures; boys, imagine the first beer on a hot day and you'll kind of understand how amazing it feels.

But apparently some girls sleep with a bra on - how? why? - and experts aren't happy, explaining that not only does it not help to support your chest, it's actually hurting your health.

"When you're lying down flat, the effect of gravity pushes the breast tissue back towards your chest, instead of down towards your toes," Dr Seth Rankin told Cosmopolitan. "So wearing a bra (the purpose of which is ultimately to support breasts from below) is essentially redundant in bed, as breasts naturally compress back down onto the chest."

On top of that, Dr Rankin adds, your lymph glands are being harmed by the process.

"A tight bra may restrict the flow of lymph to the many important lymph nodes around the breast and armpit, hindering the system's vital function of flushing toxic waste-products from the body," he said.


And other experts tend to agree; Professor Mokbel further elaborated, pointing out that the simple act of wearing a bra to bed means the physiology of the breast is taking a huge hit.

"It can impair the blood flow and lymphatic drainage, which, at worst, can lead to chronic inflammation, oedema and discomfort," he added.
