Gin Lovers Will Read This Because They're Psychopaths
In our hearts, we probably already knew it. But now jealous scientists have put it beyond doubt.
People who prefer bitter food and drink have been found to exhibit more malevolent personality traits.
Innsbruck University in Austria carried out a study of almost 1000 people, which involved making them taste things and fill out a questionnaire that asked questions such as "Do you enjoy tormenting people?"
The results showed that those attracted to bitter tastes, such as in tonic water (gin's booty call), dark chocolate and coffee displayed a higher "tendency towards everyday sadism" than people with different preferences.
Note to self: "Everyday Sadism" is a great name for my metal band.
Other personality traits include a tendency to manipulate, deceive, and exploit others to achieve their goals, as well as other psychotic and psychopathic characteristics.
And damningly, fewer traits that show kindness, agreeableness and sympathy.
If you ask me, the only thing bitter here is the science community's jealousy of a sneaky G&T with some dark chocolate and an espresso, but maybe that's because I haven't had my morning G&T and dark chocolate and espresso yet...
