Bunnings Customers Fuming Over Change to The Sausage Sizzle
For some people, it’s a weekend ritual to grab a snag while visiting Bunnings, for me, it’s the only reason I do visit.
This is something that shouldn’t be tampered with, but for some, over the weekend, it was.
The snag took a whole new flavour when the Cheltenham Cat Rescue group sold only vegan snags in Melbourne.
The founder behind the group said some people threw a tantrum but 550 people bought an alternative sausage and loved it.
“I think maybe some people were disappointed to come to Bunnings ready to buy a sausage and it’s not the traditional fare — some people were a bit angry, we had the odd Oscar winning performance but most people asked questions and many gave them a try,” Ms Reus said.
This is their third BBQ at Bunnings but according to news.com.au, the recent fundraiser caused more of a stir after meat lovers took to 3AW to vent.
One customer, Olivia, told the talk back station, “We were a little shocked, considering it’s probably one of the most male dominated destinations in the country,”
“We were like ... thank you, but no thank you.”
The group raised $1300 from the weekend’s sizzle which will help pay vets fees and also to kickstart a multilingual awareness campaign about desexing cats.
