Emergency Services Mega Bash

On Sunday 21 February 2016, Sutherland LAC will be hosting the 5th annual 'Emergency Services Mega Bash' at Gwawley Oval, Taren Point Rd, Taren Point.

The day is a charity 10/10 round robin cricket tournament between Emergency Services within the Sutherland Shire raising funds for our beneficiary, Bowel Cancer Australia. NSW Police Force will be represented by Sutherland & Miranda Local Area Command's, Police Transport Command and Forensic Imaging, with the inclusion of NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW Ambulance, NSW State Emergency Service and the NSW Fire & Rescue.

We will all be uniting as one to help raise awareness, promote early diagnosis, and assist with further research to develop strategies that will save lives.

There are a number of officers, staff and their families within the Emergency Services who have been directly affected by this disease and this is their way of continuing the fight but also to support others within the community in similar situations.

The day is in aid of raising funds for Bowel Cancer which affects 1 in 12 Australians and is Australia's 2nd biggest killer. It is also responsible for around 77 deaths per week.

A total of over $25,000 has been raised over the previous 4 years for Bowel Cancer Australia and has raised great publicity in local and national newspapers and national live television.

We will again have great prizes on offer with the sale of tickets for a raffle which will be drawn on the day at about 2pm. We will be hosting an autograph signing session from 12pm until 1pm.
