Where Are Madeleine McCann's Twin Siblings Today?

Sean and Amelie McCann were only two-years-old when their sister vanished from their holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007.

Now aged 14, the twins have grown up without knowing their older sister who remains missing.

Three-year-old Madeleine McCann vanished on May 3, 2007 from her bed in a holiday villa in Portugal, while the couple dined with friends at a nearby tapas restaurant.

Almost 12 years on, the young British girl remains missing. She would be 15.

While Maddie's face (and distinctive eye) is recognisable around the world, we know very little about the two siblings who were sleeping just metres away from her when she was allegedly abducted from her bed.

Where are the twins now?

Sean and Amelie live with their parents, Kate and Gerry, in the town of Loughborough in England. They reportedly attend a Catholic high school and are aspiring athletes who regularly compete in triathlons, swimming championships and cross-country racing.

The two teenagers understandably keep a very low profile and are never photographed by the media, despite their parents' public awareness campaign.

Despite Kate and Gerry's grief at losing their eldest daughter, they have created as normal a life as possible for their twins.

Kate McCann told The Sun that her twins have "grown up essentially without Madeleine but knowing their sister is missing and they want her back."

She continued: "They have their own friends and they keep busy and they're really sporty but their only wish is for their big sister to come home. We miss our complete family of five.

"As a family 98 per cent of the time we're busy. I don't know if that's a conscious thing but it helps. The urge to look for Madeleine absolutely hasn't changed at all."

The family also confessed to purchasing birthday and Christmas presents for Madeleine which are all ready to be opened in her room.

"I obviously have to think about what age she is and something that, whenever we find her, will still be appropriate. so there's a lot of thought goes into it," she opened up to the BBC.

"But I couldn't not, you know; she's still our daughter, she'll always be our daughter."

did the twins see maddie's 'abductor'?

Netflix's 'The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann' claims that Sean and Amelie were asleep during the suspected abduction.

Local police continue to question how the young children managed to sleep through the commotion.

This led to rumours that the twins had been sedated, however, this claim has not been proven.

how did gerry and kate explain the situation to them?

Despite being toddlers when their sister disappeared, the twins still remember Madeleine and regularly talk about her.

"The twins are doing really well," Kate told The Sun.

"They are up to date, they know everything, they know if we are meeting police. There is nothing kept from them. They've grown up essentially without Madeleine, knowing their sister is missing and they want her back."

'The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann' is now available to stream on Netflix.
