A Warning For All Passengers Riding In Cars
In the US recently Audra Tatum and her husband Nick were out for a drive when they were involved in a potentially fatal accident when another car hit them head on.
While Nick somehow escaped with just some bruises and scratches, Audra wasn't so lucky.
When the cars hit, Audra was sitting with both feet up on the dashboard, with her right leg crossed over her left.
On impact, the airbag violently threw her foot into her face, breaking her nose and ankle as well as her femur in four places.
Audra is now sharing her story to urge others to be safer passengers.
"All my life I had my legs crossed and my foot on the dash," Audra told CBS News.
"My husband always told me, 'You're going to get in a wreck someday, and you're going to break your legs.''
Chattanooga Fire Department, who are supporting her campaign said in a statement:
"If you ride with your feet on the dash and you're involved in an accident, the airbag may send your knees through your eye sockets."
A very fair warning indeed.
