This One Four-Letter-Word Can Save An Argument
Confrontations and arguments are never a good thing, especially when it's with someone you love.
Some arguments can last for hours, some for days, and sadly, some are never resolved.
But now, marriage therapist Hal Runkel has revealed there’s one four-letter-word that can be used in a domestic argument situation that can shorten it's length, and no it's not THAT four-letter-word.
Runkel's theory is based on opening yourself up to vulnerability, rather than resorting to confrontation.
And what's that four-letter-word you ask? It's 'ouch'.
Runkel's theory is that it hits home, making the person you're arguing with realise that their words are actually affecting you.
Runkel explains to Business Insider UK that saying, "Ouch. That one hurt, I don't know if you were meaning to hurt me; I don't know if that's what you were going for; but that's what you did," can help to diffuse a situation rather than prolong it.
