There Is One Thing EVERYONE In Australia Needs To Do ASAP
The same-sex marriage has been defeated in Parliament (yet again) and now the Australian public will take part in a non-compulsory postal vote.
Ballot papers will be sent from September 12 and we will have until November 7 to send back our votes.
We should then have a result by November 15.
Unlike when we vote in elections, we won’t HAVE to vote unless you want to.
If you do want your opinion to be heard, you need to make sure you are registered.
It is especially important if you are 17 and have an upcoming birthday, as you need to register for the first time.
Appropriate proof of identity is necessary (such as a passport or driver's licence).
We can all check if we are registered to vote here.
