The Move Made By Coles Could End Up Saving You Thousands
Coles has come up with an awesome idea for its suppliers.
The challenge tasks the suppliers of the brand to feed their families on $150.00 a week as a move to justify cost increases.
Coles merchandise director Chris Nicholas spoke at the Australian Food and Grocery Council conference in Brisbane last week.
“We are committed to lowering prices,” Mr Nicholas said. “If you want to add to our cost of doing business, you must expect to be challenged.”
According to Mr Nicholas, keeping the prices low are a necessity for struggling customers which make up 40 per cent of Aussie families.
“None of this is a threat or browbeating. Customers communicate this very clearly — when the prices of proprietary brands increase, the demand for Coles Brand increases. I’m just stating the fact,” he said.
