Sleeping Toddler Found At Scene Of Alleged Murder Suicide
A three-year-old girl has been found sleeping just metres from the scene of what police believe to have been a murder-suicide.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the toddler, who was unharmed, was discovered alongside the two bodies of a man and a woman by a relative who paid a visit to the property in western Sydney.
Police were called to the scene at about 12.35pm on Sunday afternoon, and continued to search the house with the forensic team in order to piece together the circumstances which lead to the deaths.
Neighbours explained that the man, in his 40s, and the woman, in her 30s, had recently broken up, and that the latter had left with the child earlier this year.
"She has been gone for months," one neighbour said. "She took the daughter with her, so I was surprised to see her car there today.
"It's so sad, she is such a smart little girl. They didn't harm her, thank God."
"We would always say hello to them, they were nice enough," they continued. "I just can't believe this."
The toddler was taken to Fairfield police station while arrangements were made for her care.
