RSPCA QLD Slammed For Selling This Chew Toy

The Queensland faction of the RSPCA have been slammed online for selling a caricature of former Prime Minister Julia Gillard as a chew toy for animals.

The unflattering plush toy depicts Gillard to have an enormous nose and plump figure and is currently on sale at RSPCA World For Pets in Wacol for $20.

Regardless of your political views, it's obvious the use of Australia's first Prime Minister as a dog's chew toy is disrespectful and a far cry from the normally inclusive and charitable views of the RSPCA.

The toy cannot be found on their website currently and RSPCA have yet to comment publicly.

Jozefa Sobski, the Women’s Electoral Lobby convener, told news.com.au that the use of Gillard's likeness in the doll was 'repugnant' - turning Australila's first female PM into a dog's plaything.

“Surely they have other creatures they can use as toys, this is just repugnant,” Ms Sobski said.

“It is disrespectful to the former prime minister, and I believe it is designed and sold to be disrespectful.

“This just brings needless attention to the RSCPA at a time when the focus should be on the core missions of the organisation, which his to protect and care for animals."

Members of social media have been quick to react, with a number refusing to donate to the RSPCA going forward.
