Rebel Wilson Thinks She Should Play Croc Dundee

Aussie funny-girl Rebel Wilson has revealed that she recently got in touch with Paul Hogan about making a reboot of Crocodile Dundee.

The 38-year-old actress claims she asked the legendary Hoges about making a reboot starring her in the lead, but he allegedly turned her down as he didn't want a 'female to be the main focus.'

Speaking to Australian Vogue Rebel said: 'Obviously it would have Paul Hogan in it in some way, but he doesn't want a female to play Crocodile Dundee.'

'I think (it) is a travesty as I think out of anyone in Australia I'm the most suited to do it.'

“I always thought I’d be a dramatic actress,” @rebelwilson reveals of her comedic career in the June 2018 issue, also touching on her legal battles, producing films and dating in Hollywood. “I was in a play at Sydney Theatre Company and I thought I’d made it. I was 19 and thought I was playing a dramatic role and as I got on stage people just started laughing at me and I was like: ‘What am I doing?’ It was very confusing that first show, and then I just leaned into that and realised that there is something people find funny about me, so I just kept doing it.” She adds: “Only when I got the ATYP international scholarship from Nicole Kidman did I realise I wanted to specialise in comedy.” Read Wilson’s full interview via the link in the bio. The issue goes on sale Monday, May 28. Photographed by @nicolebentleyphoto, styled by @kate_darvill, Vogue Australia, June 2018.

Rebel said she reached out to Hogan because he owns the rights to the iconic 1986 film.

Earlier this year Hogan appeared as part of a star studded reboot of Croc Dundee for a commercial for Tourism Australia that also featured Hugh Jackman and Chris Hemsworth and aired during Super Bowl halftime in the US.
