NSW Police Dog Marco Saves Mans Life
A NSW police dog is being called a hero after finding a missing man who was clinging to a tree above a river in NSW's central coast on Saturday night.
An aged care facility contacted police on Saturday night when a patient went missing after going outside.
Police and staff searched the surrounding area for the man, aged 65, including a nearby railway station, surrounding streets, and the edges of the Wyong River.
After some time, when the man was still not found the dog unit was called in to assist with the search.
At about 1am, four hours after the man had gone missing, Senior Constable Patrick Summers and his dog 'Macro' were patrolling the area around Wyong River. When Marco led the constable to a steep embankment, Macro repeatedly pointed the officer to the same area of the river. The police officer looked through extensive foliage and found the man who was clinging onto a tree branch above water.
Well done Macro!!
