Massive Wavepool To Be Built At Sydney Olympic Park
Love surfing or want to take it up but you're too scared of a shark attack or jellyfish... or simply couldn't be bothered trying to find a parking spot? Welcome to URBNSURF Sydney!
An announcement has been made last night revealing that the rarely used P5 carpark, which is only ever utilised as overflow for major events, will be totally transformed into a giant wavepool, due to open in 2018.
The $26.5 million wavepool is proposed to have a number of facilities including a licensed café, roof top bar and beach club. Also on-site will be a fully equipped pro-shop to allow you to try-before-you-buy your new surfing hardware. A wetsuit and board rental centre will be available as well as training programmes for all levels of surfing, from beginner to elite as well as a range of surf-fit styled personal and group fitness programmes.
And there's action for the non-surfers also, with amenities including beach cabanas, a skate ramp, children’s playground, rock-climbing and parkour course. Sign me up!!!
The waves generated in the man-made pool will reach approximately 1.7 metres high at a maximum, allowing all levels of surfers to practice without having to travel to the beach.
Watch the video from the developers below, we can't wait!!!
